Golf equipment manufacturer Callaway has apologized after an online advertisement depicting violence against women sparked widespread criticism and calls for a boycott of its products. The commercial, released last week and since removed, showed a male golfer shoving female professional player Alexis Miestowski to the ground when she reached for his new driver.

The ad was produced by golf media firm Good Good Golf and featured cofounder Garrett Clark in the role of the male golfer. Following the backlash, Callaway CEO Chip Brewer announced on Tuesday, August 26, 2026, that the company had launched an investigation into how the advertisement was approved.

Social media reactions included a female golfer who described the ad as a significant setback for women striving to enter the male-dominated sport. Many critics expressed skepticism about the sincerity of the apologies issued by Callaway and Good Good Golf.

The controversy highlights ongoing challenges related to gender representation in golf and corporate responsibility in advertising.
