A former Missouri television news anchor, Angelynn "Angie" Mock, 48, has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, on Halloween, October 31, 2025. The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office announced the plea on Friday, August 25, 2026.

Authorities reported that officers were called to the Wichita home shared by Mock, Avers, and Mock's stepfather around 7:50 a.m. on the day of the incident. Upon arrival, Mock was found outside with cuts on her hands, according to the Wichita Police Department. A probable cause affidavit indicated that Mock made several statements suggesting she believed her mother was the devil.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Mock faces life in prison with eligibility for parole after 25 years. Mock's stepfather told KAKE-TV that she had been diagnosed with mental illness and suffered from delusions and depression.

Mock was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. She previously worked as a news anchor and reporter for Fox 2 in St. Louis.
