Four teenagers allegedly stole a 2024 Mercedes-Benz G Wagon in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and took it on a joyride early Wednesday morning, August 26th, 2026, before crashing head-on into another vehicle, authorities reported.

The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. near Route 50 and Third Street in Mays Landing, Atlantic County. The sedan involved was carrying Alice Stilwell Holt, 67, and Robert "Bob" Barr Jr., 54, both residents of Egg Harbor Township. Both were killed in the collision.

Prosecutors allege that Nayshaun Brown, 18, and three juveniles were responsible for stealing the luxury SUV around 3:40 a.m. Hamilton Township police spotted and pursued the vehicle around 7:45 a.m., but lost sight of it minutes before the crash as the driver attempted to evade authorities.

The joyride tragically ended when the stolen SUV collided head-on with the Hyundai sedan carrying Holt and Barr. The couple had been partners for over 20 years and enjoyed spending time together gardening, cooking, and attending farmers markets.

This tragic incident has left their family in deep grief, with the suddenness of the event making the loss even harder to bear, according to statements from those close to the victims.

Additionally, two Colombian nationals have been arrested in connection with a stolen Mercedes linked to a violent carjacking in California, though this case is separate from the New Jersey incident.
