Tomoko Akane, the Japanese president of the International Criminal Court (ICC), has publicly rejected accusations from Washington that the ICC is corrupt. Speaking from Tokyo, Akane vowed that the ICC will continue its judicial work despite the sanctions imposed by the United States.

Akane also urged Japan’s Prime Minister Takaichi to take a stronger stance against US pressure. She emphasized the importance of upholding international justice and indicated that proceedings related to former Philippine President Duterte will continue despite restrictions on judges.
