On Tuesday, August 26th, 2026, thousands of Muslim worshippers gathered in Lagos, Nigeria, to celebrate Eid al-Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The event featured processions, prayers, Quran recitations, lectures, and charity activities organized by mosques and Islamic organizations.

Participants marched through various parts of the city, singing and reflecting on the significance of the prophet’s teachings in daily life. The celebration also emphasized messages of unity and peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.

Ibrahim Bala, a participant, highlighted the importance of religious harmony, stating that although Muslims and Christians follow different faiths, they worship the same God. He added that Islam encourages believers to live in unity, respect other religions, and view all people as equals.

Biola Ayodele shared that studying the life of Prophet Muhammad had taught her wisdom and provided guidance on how to live as a committed Muslim. Another worshipper, Muhammad Habib, described the occasion as one of the happiest days of his life.

Eid al-Mawlid is observed on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
