Ukraine resumed drone attacks on Moscow overnight into Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. The attacks occurred hours after the departure of the plane carrying CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who visited Moscow unannounced on Tuesday morning.

A Ukrainian official told ABC News that Ukraine had agreed to a U.S. request not to launch drone or missile strikes against Moscow during Ratcliffe's visit. However, after his departure, at least 10 drones were shot down while flying toward Moscow, Sobyanin said in a Telegram post. Emergency services specialists are working at the crash sites of the debris, and damage was reported to one industrial facility, several residential buildings, and cars.

Russia's federal air transport agency, Rosaviatsiya, reported temporary flight restrictions at three of Moscow's international airports—Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Vnukovo—amid the overnight attacks. Ratcliffe's plane landed at Vnukovo on Tuesday morning and departed hours later, according to Flightradar24.

Gleb Nikitin posted on Telegram that local defenses repelled an attack involving more than 40 drones. The Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, which produces drones and cruise missiles, stated on Telegram that its munitions were used to attack the Wildberries facility in Tambov and an oil refinery in Nizhny Novgorod.

Mikhail Razvozhayev reported that three incoming Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles were shot down over the Black Sea.

Separately, Ukraine's State Emergency Service said in Telegram posts that a woman and a 4-year-old girl were killed in a Russian attack in the northern Chernihiv region, with a 14-year-old girl also injured.
