Iowa Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand has made clear that he would not want former President Joe Biden or former Vice President Kamala Harris to campaign on his behalf.

During an interview, when asked by Politico's Jonathan Martin if he would welcome Biden's support, Sand responded simply, "No."

Sand, who also discussed the challenges of independent candidacies and the dynamics of third-party voting, emphasized the difficulties of running outside the two-party system, noting it often splits the vote and leads to defeat. He also described his policy stances as moderate, rejecting Democratic socialism and explaining his decision to run as a Democrat.

This development comes as Iowa's current Republican governor, Kim Reynolds, announced last year she would not seek re-election. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump recently endorsed America First Patriot Zach Lahn, praising him as a "tremendous Candidate running to be the next Governor of the Wonderful State of Iowa," and noting his own electoral successes in the state in 2016, 2020, and 2024.

Separately, Vice President Kamala Harris has indicated she is "thinking about" a potential 2028 presidential run, stating in April that she "might" run again.
