An Israeli strike on the town of Arab Salim in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district killed a Lebanese woman who had been married for just 48 hours, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA). The attack also wounded six others, including a child, a woman, and two elderly people, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The newlywed woman’s house was destroyed in the strike, NNA added.

Lebanese security sources stated that at least 10 Israeli strikes had been carried out in the wider Nabatieh area. Additionally, artillery shelling was reported near the outskirts of Rashaf in the Bint Jbeil district.

Israel has intensified its strikes on southern Lebanon in recent days, following a wave of attacks on August 15 that Lebanon said killed 11 people, including several children. Lebanon was drawn into the broader conflict on March 2, 2026, shortly after the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran.

Despite a recent easing of violence linked to a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran and an Israel-Lebanon framework, Beirut continues to report strikes and demolitions.
