The fate of US mother Lindsay Clancy is now in the hands of a Massachusetts jury, which began deliberations on Thursday, August 27th, 2026. Clancy faces charges of first-degree murder—the intentional and premeditated killing of another person—in the deaths of her three children, aged between eight months and five years.

For five weeks, the trial has drawn national attention as Clancy's defense lawyers argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she killed her children using exercise bands at their home and subsequently attempted to end her own life by jumping out of a window. Kevin Reddington, Clancy's lawyer, stated, "This young lady is not guilty of the killing of her children because she was suffering from a disease and defect."

The prosecution contended that Clancy made a calculated decision to intentionally murder her children. They emphasized that "It's not the system or the DSM that caused her to strangle her kids."

The jury, composed of nine women and three men, completed their first day of deliberations on August 27th. They may find Clancy guilty of first-degree murder, guilty of lesser charges such as second-degree murder or involuntary manslaughter, or not guilty.
