Tropical Storm Dolly, the fourth tropical cyclone of the 2026 hurricane season, formed in the Atlantic on Thursday, August 27th, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm currently has winds of 40 miles per hour and is moving west at 24 miles per hour. Forecasts indicate that Dolly will maintain its strength before weakening and dissipating into a tropical wave as it approaches the Leeward Islands late this weekend.

Heavy rain from Tropical Storm Dolly could begin affecting the Leeward Islands—including the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola—late Saturday into Sunday. This rainfall may cause flash flooding, particularly in areas with higher terrain.

It is important to note that the storm is not named after country music star Dolly Parton, who passed away this week following a brief battle with cancer.
