On Wednesday, August 27th, 2026, Vinod Khosla's family received unanimous approval from the NFL's 31 other owners to purchase the Seattle Seahawks for an estimated $9.6 billion. The acquisition brings Khosla, best known for co-founding Sun Microsystems and founding Khosla Ventures, into ownership of a fresh Super Bowl-winning team.

Khosla, whose net worth is reported at $13.7 billion, expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating, "We're huge fans of football, and these opportunities, especially Super Bowl winning teams, seldom come along, so we were very excited to have the opportunity."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged the timing of the purchase, saying, "You have great timing. It's not very often you can buy a Super Bowl championship team, but you've done that. Many of our owners struggle to find ways to get into a Super Bowl and win a trophy, and you'll be walking into your new building shortly with a fresh, shiny trophy there for you."

Khosla emphasized a long-term approach to ownership: "That's simple. In general, our approach is generally going to be long-term focused, that's our inclination always. The task ahead is actually pretty simple — keep the winning streak alive, get another Super Bowl."

The Seattle Seahawks, defending Super Bowl champions, face challenges in matching last season's 14-3 record, but ownership remains optimistic about continuing success.
