A project to upgrade Queensland's Triple Zero (000) phone system has been delayed until next year, with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz being a contributing factor.

The Queensland Ambulance Service has been leading the project, called Triple Zero (000) Telephony Refresh, that was launched in March 2024.

The high-priority upgrades were due to be completed this December.

A QAS spokesperson said it is "currently scheduled for completion by the end of March 2027" due to "third-party service provider delays".
