Yankees acquire Luis Garcia Jr. from Nationals in interesting trade before MLB deadline

Luis Garcia Jr., in the middle of a career year, has been sent from the Washington Nationals to the New York Yankees in a trade.

The Yankees have landed the veteran first baseman from the Nationals in exchange for Yovanny Cruz, Jake Bird, Ben Grable and Jack Cebert, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

As the Yankees’ offense continues to struggle with inconsistent play and the lack of three-time MVP Aaron Judge, Garcia, in the midst of his seventh MLB season, is hitting .283 with a 3.13 on-base percentage and a National League-leading .560 slugging percentage.
