Perth business says Metronet works led to $250k loss

A Perth business owner says years of railway construction work have cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Joe Mahon says the removal of the Oats Street Metronet level crossing and subsequent works to elevate the rail line and build a new train station have caused road closures and parking issues that have seriously affected his bottom line.

He told 102.5 ABC Perth he did not object to the public transport upgrades at East Victoria Park from late 2023 to mid-2025, but has asked the Public Transport Authority (PTA) for compensation.

The corner of Bank Street and Forward Street was chosen as the location for Reid's Remotes because of the visibility from the street, customer parking and ease of access.
