Former Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan is suing the Trump administration, demanding a court order to preserve records related to two federal investigations targeting him. Brennan, who led the CIA from 2013 to 2017, alleges these investigations amount to "phantom criminal conduct" and are being conducted "at the direct urging of President Trump."

According to the lawsuit reviewed by Fox News Digital, Brennan is seeking preliminary injunctive relief to protect his constitutional rights as the current target of these probes. The suit further claims that some officials within the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation leadership have turned the Justice Department into "a tool of retribution against Director Brennan and the President’s other perceived adversaries."

Brennan has previously spoken on election security matters, including at a forum titled "2020 Vision: Intelligence and the U.S. Presidential Election" at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The legal action highlights ongoing tensions between Brennan and the Trump administration regarding the investigations.
