Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur secured a straight-sets win over French left-hander Adrian Mannarino to advance to the third round of Wimbledon. The match, played on Thursday under sunny conditions in London, ended 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 after one hour and 49 minutes.

De Minaur, seeded fifth, broke Mannarino twice in the first set and three times in the second, despite occasional issues with his own serve. He was broken once in each of the first two sets but held firm in the third, surviving a challenging service game at 2-2 that included five deuces. Mannarino, 38, was unable to recover after falling two sets and a break behind.

The Australian enjoyed solid support on court from fellow countrymen Maya Joint and James Duckworth. De Minaur's performance was an improvement on his nervy first-round victory against Roman Andres Burruchaga at the same venue.

Reflecting on his performance, de Minaur said, "I definitely think I started better, I had more intent, more conviction in what I needed to do," and added he was "super stoked and super grateful to be playing some good tennis with some great weather here in London."

Looking ahead, de Minaur will face either Kamil Majchrzak, who recently defeated him in the final at 's-Hertogenbosch marking the Pole's first win in three meetings, or American Zach Svajda, whom de Minaur has never played before.
