On July 3, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel appeared in a cameo role on the HBO satire series "Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America," produced by Larry David with former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as executive producers. The show lampooned President Donald Trump through colonial-era characters without explicitly naming him.
The episode featured a posthumous appearance by longtime Trump critic Rob Reiner, who portrayed George Washington. Reiner’s character announced he would not seek a third term and proposed a constitutional amendment to limit presidential power. Larry David’s character, dressed in colonial attire, questioned, "Well, what if there’s some a------ in office, some narcissistic p---- who doesn’t follow the Constitution?"
Kimmel’s character responded sarcastically, "Are you suggesting that the president would taketh the time to challenge anyone who dare make fun of him, as if he were a big baby? I don’t see it."
The series has drawn attention for its political satire and features contributions from notable figures including Randy Holmes (ABC) and the late Rob Reiner. Last year, Kimmel faced a brief suspension by Disney following controversial remarks, leading ABC to preempt his show indefinitely.
