The Supreme Court has upheld transgender sports bans, affirming that Title IX protects girls based on biological sex rather than gender identity. Kaillie Armbruster Humphries, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and five-time world champion in bobsledding, shared her perspective on the ruling. Having represented both Canada and the United States, Humphries became the first woman to win gold medals for two different countries on the world’s biggest stage.

Throughout her career, Humphries has witnessed the transformative power of women's sports in creating opportunities and building confidence. She emphasized that while some have tried to blur the distinction between identity and biology, the Supreme Court correctly recognized these as separate concepts.

Former NCAA All-American Riley Gaines also weighed in, calling it "insane" to challenge biological sex in sports and asserting that boys should not compete in girls' sports. Gaines described the opposing movement as "misogynistic," advocating for the rights of female athletes and fair competition—a view supported by Education Secretary Linda McMahon.

At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, Humphries won a bronze medal in the Women's Monobob Bobsleigh event, celebrating alongside teammates Jasmine Jones and Elana Meyers Taylor.
