Anastasiia Berezovska, a 39-year-old Ukrainian woman suspected of planting a bomb in Monaco that injured a wealthy Ukrainian-born businessman and his family, has been found dead in Ukraine, according to Ukraine's security service (SBU) and prosecutor general's office.

Berezovska was the chief suspect in the bombing that occurred on 29 June in the entrance hall of an apartment building in Monaco. She was wanted by Monaco authorities for attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent, and criminal conspiracy. She spoke German and was listed in an Interpol Red Notice.

Monaco's deputy prosecutor stated that after the attack, the suspect fled on foot to France and then traveled by car through several European countries, including Italy and Germany.

The 39-year-old's body was found in Ukraine with gunshot wounds to the head, with local media reporting the discovery occurred close to 11pm local time. Ukrainian prosecutors also announced the detention of an employee of Ukraine's military intelligence service (HUR), who claimed to have killed Berezovska along with another suspect.

The bombing injured Ukrainian-born Vadym Yermolaiev, his partner, and son. Two men, including a current officer within Ukraine's Ministry of Defence, have been detained on suspicion of murder related to Berezovska's death.

This story is developing, and further details are expected.
