President Donald Trump declared early Wednesday that the interim agreement with Iran to pause hostilities is over. This announcement came after a series of powerful U.S. military strikes against targets in Iran, which were carried out following attacks by Tehran on at least three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking to reporters at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump said, “To me, I think it’s over. I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They’re scum.” He added, “They’re good people, but they have to come back to me. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just a waste of time dealing with them.”

The U.S. Central Command announced on Tuesday that the military had launched these strikes in response to the Iranian attacks on commercial shipping.
