President Trump declared early Wednesday that the ceasefire with Iran is "over" and stated he no longer wants to engage with Tehran. This announcement came after both sides exchanged strikes overnight and the U.S. revoked a sanctions waiver that had allowed Iran to sell oil and petrochemicals.
Trump made these remarks from the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, where he met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
Negotiations to finalize a deal with Tehran had been anticipated to resume following the weeklong funeral for Iran’s late supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khameinei, who was killed in February.
Meanwhile, in Maine, Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner is facing pressure to withdraw from the race amid a sexual assault allegation. The Democratic Party is actively seeking a new candidate in this pivotal contest as they aim to flip the Senate this fall.
