The Tibet Tourism Bureau has awarded 500,000 yuan (approximately US$73,500) to an online influencer known as @Liyaode for a viral road trip video promoting tourism in Tibet. The video, released on July 4, documented Liyaode's taxi journey from Chongqing, southwestern China, to Lhasa, the capital of the Tibetan autonomous region, covering a distance of 2,200 kilometers.
According to Jiupai News, the video received 15 million likes within a day. Liyaode hired two taxi drivers who alternated driving duties to complete the seven-day trip.
On July 5, the Tibet Tourism Bureau praised the video on social media for showcasing the region's natural landscapes and cultural features from multiple perspectives. The bureau stated, "It generates effective online traffic and conveys positive values. It is in line with Tibet tourism authority’s promotional spirit and has positive effects on society."
