On July 9, Wales announced three changes to their starting XV ahead of their second Nations Championship match against Argentina. Ellis Mee replaces Louis Rees-Zammit on the wing, with Rees-Zammit moving to the bench. Sam Costelow is selected at fly-half, preferred over Dan Edwards, who started in Wales' 39-24 victory over Fiji in Cardiff last weekend. The third change sees James Botham come in at flanker, replacing Alex Mann.

Back-row forward Kane James, 21, is named as a replacement and is set to make his Test debut. Coach Steve Tandy described the opportunity as "a great opportunity for those boys coming in and an exciting challenge." He also praised Kane James, saying, "He's so powerful and quick. The way he's come into the environment and just jumped straight in shows he hasn't been tentative in anything he does."

The full starting XV includes Blair Murray (15), Ellis Mee (14), Eddie James (13), Joe Hawkins (12), Josh Adams (11), Sam Costelow (10), Tomos Williams (9), Aaron Wainwright (8), Jac Morgan (7), James Botham (6), Adam Beard (5), Ben Carter (4), Dillon Lewis (3), Dewi Lake (captain, 2), and Rhys Carre (1). The replacements are Ryan Elias (16), Nicky Smith (17), Ben Warren (18), Teddy Williams (19), Kane James (20), Kieran Hardy (21), Max Llewellyn (22), and Louis Rees-Zammit (23).

Wales will face Argentina in this upcoming fixture as part of the Nations Championship.
