Israel has recently shared intelligence with the United States indicating a new plot by Iran to assassinate former President Donald Trump, according to a Wall Street Journal report published on July 10, 2026. The report, citing people familiar with the matter, stated that Israeli officials warned the U.S. of what they considered a fresh threat against Trump that could further escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran amid ongoing conflict.
Two sources also confirmed to CNN that the warnings were issued this week. However, some U.S. officials suggested to CNN that the Israeli intelligence might be intended to influence Trump’s decision-making as he contemplates escalating U.S. military actions against Iran.
The relationship between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump has reportedly become strained over the direction of the conflict, with Netanyahu advocating for increased military intervention in the Middle East, while Trump initially aimed to maintain a fragile ceasefire.
At the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump acknowledged being "1 on the kill list for Iran" and remarked, "And so far, I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn’t last very long."
During funeral processions for the late Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Reuters reported that mourners chanted "Death to America," and banners appeared with the message, "We Will Kill Trump."
