Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) President Lise Klaveness announced on July 23, 2026, that she will ask her board to pursue a formal ethics complaint against FIFA for suspending Balogun’s red card ban.

Klaveness called on FIFA leadership to admit the decision was a mistake. "We need our leader in FIFA to say that this was an error," she told The Times. Klaveness hopes the case will encourage others to speak out without fear. "This case was so serious and so worrying that I hope that it might contribute to bring people out a little bit and don't fear to bring up cases," she said.
