Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville sharply criticized far-left Democrats during his "Politics War Room" podcast on Thursday, July 24, 2026. Carville warned that democratic socialists within the party value communist leader Vladimir Lenin more than American civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.
Paraphrasing an unnamed Democratic politician, Carville highlighted a claim that even Black American leaders are part of American imperialism, a notion he dismissed with sarcasm. He questioned the idea that figures like John Lewis or Martin Luther King Jr. were puppets of such a system.
Carville described these far-left politicians as "paternalistic" and "a bunch of overeducated little White turds who think they know more than other people know, and they know what's wrong." He urged viewers to approach these politicians with "major, extreme skepticism," warning that they believe they know what's better for people more than the people themselves do.
He has long cautioned the Democratic Party to distance itself from far-left culture-war politics. Carville also mocked far-left politicians by saying, "The only movement they got is a f---ing bowel movement."
Among the far-left proposals he criticized were calls for an immediate end to all deportations, free migration without restrictive immigration controls, and extending full voting rights to people with criminal convictions and noncitizens.
Carville's comments come amid growing popularity of democratic socialists within the Democratic Party, a trend he has repeatedly warned could threaten the traditional two-party system.
