At least two people were killed and five others wounded, including a two-year-old boy, in a shooting during the Bite of Seattle food festival near the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday evening, July 27, 2026.

Two victims died at the scene, according to Grace Nunez, spokesperson for the Seattle Fire Department. The injured were transported to Harborview Medical Center, including a 56-year-old woman in serious condition. A 23-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman, and the two-year-old boy were reported to be in stable condition. Hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said the victims sustained injuries to their arms, abdomens, or legs.

The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. local time during the annual festival, which draws approximately 350,000 attendees over three days and features hundreds of food vendors and performers.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced that one suspect has been taken into custody and expressed gratitude to the police officers who responded promptly to the scene. The Seattle Police Department reported multiple shooting victims near the Space Needle observation tower and stated that the investigation is ongoing, urging the public to avoid the area.

Videos shared online showed people taking shelter inside the Space Needle's lobby during the incident. It is believed the suspects were shooting at each other, and a second suspect remains at large.

Officials described the event as an act of horrific violence, with impacted families and the community grappling with the aftermath of the shooting.
