The Philadelphia Eagles have secured defensive tackle Jalen Carter with a four-year contract extension worth a reported $152 million, including $106 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history. The deal, negotiated by agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus, pays Carter an average of $38 million per year, surpassing Tennessee Titans' Jeffery Simmons ($35.2 million) and Kansas City Chiefs' Chris Jones ($31.75 million) as the only interior linemen earning over $30 million annually.

Carter, the 9th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, finished second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting behind Will Anderson Jr. He is a two-time Pro Bowler, and the Eagles clearly expect his best performances are still ahead.

Earlier in his career, Carter faced challenges, including being ejected from the 2025 regular-season opener for unsportsmanlike conduct, but the team’s commitment reflects confidence in his future contributions.
