TANGERANG, Indonesia — On Thursday, July 30th, Chinese electric car manufacturers BYD, Chery, and DFSK unveiled their first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models in Indonesia. The launches took place at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show near Jakarta, which opened to the public on the same day.

Jetour, a sub-brand of Chery, is among the Chinese brands showcasing these hybrid models at the event, which runs from July 30th into August. The shift towards plug-in hybrids comes amid uncertainties around government subsidies and a limited number of charging stations, factors that have influenced the move away from fully electric vehicles in the Indonesian market.

This development marks a significant step for Chinese automakers expanding their presence in Southeast Asia's growing automotive sector.
