The incident occurred when the girls held signs supporting Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham, who recently advocated for the protection of women’s sports and maintaining female-only categories.

One sign read, “Thank You Sophie for speaking up for girls!” According to independent journalist Brandi Kruse, minority owner Celeste Keaton told the girls they were “f—ing insane.”

Storm majority owner Ginny Gilder acknowledged the incident in a statement: “We are aware one of our co-owners made comments to two fans in attendance at last night’s game.”

During the game, Cunningham received a mix of cheers and jeers, and the Fever won the match 105-95.
