A Russian ballistic missile struck the Ukrainian village of Radushne, near the central city of Kryvyi Rih, killing six people including a six-year-old girl and two boys aged 11 and 17, local defence council chief Oleksandr Vilkul said. The missile hit a home where a large family lived, which Ukrainian President Zelensky described as having been "blown into smithereens." Two private homes were completely destroyed in the attack.

Another eight people were wounded, including an 84-year-old woman hospitalized and two children rescued alive from the rubble.

The strikes occurred amid warnings from Zelensky that Moscow was preparing for a "massive attack." In Kyiv, one person died and fires broke out in three non-residential buildings overnight, according to the capital's mayor Vitali Klitschko. The mayor of Poltava also reported a death following an attack on a Nova Poshta postal terminal. Explosions were reported in Lviv, where mayor Andriy Sadovyi said residential buildings were damaged.

The closest missile was observed about 5km from the Polish border at 03:29, before changing direction and heading eastwards. Donald Tusk, speaking at a meeting in Lublin, said, "All the indications are that it was a Russian Kh-101 ballistic missile, but we want to be 100% certain about the type of missile and who launched it."

These military actions follow repeated calls by Ukraine's president to strengthen Kyiv's anti-ballistic missile defenses.
