Country singer Ruston Kelly, 37, has publicly committed to sobriety after relapsing on drugs following a freak golf cart accident in June 2026. Kelly broke his arm in the crash and was prescribed a month-long supply of Percocet after receiving fentanyl, morphine, ketamine, dilaudid, and oxycodone during a three-day hospital stay.

In a candid social media post shared on Wednesday, July 31, 2026, Kelly reflected on the difficult months since the accident. He revealed that he had been three days sober at the time of the post after the relapse.

Kelly shared a gold Narcotics Anonymous token symbolizing his gratitude and commitment to recovery, stating, "My gratitude speaks when I care and when I share with others the NA way."

He explained that prior to the accident, he believed he was on a "clean" journey as long as he avoided amphetamines, saying, "I told myself back in 2021 that as long as I wasn’t using amphetamines that I would be on the right 'clean' journey for myself."

However, he admitted to lumping in alcohol and THC initially because he thought that was expected. Kelly also noted, "I had never been addicted to any drug other than those pills," referring to the opioids prescribed after his injury.

Despite his struggles, Kelly's openness about his relapse and recovery efforts highlights the challenges many face with opioid prescriptions following injuries.
