Massachusetts GOP gubernatorial candidate Mike Minogue has unveiled a healthcare plan focused on lowering costs, expanding access, and cutting regulatory burdens through innovation. Minogue, a combat veteran and former CEO of medical device company Abiomed, launched his Republican campaign for governor on Wednesday, July 30, 2026.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Minogue emphasized the need for a "patients first mindset," drawing on his experience leading a company committed to improving patient outcomes while saving costs. He criticized the current healthcare system's heavy regulatory demands on nurses and doctors, which he views as a significant problem.

"We [must] have a focus that we're really going through areas that allow for patients to get access to their physicians, their nurses, and also utilize innovation, things that are breakthrough, and things that can minimize the burden on the physicians and the nurses with regulations and documentation," Minogue said.

He also highlighted concerns about the loss of innovation and treatment opportunities in Massachusetts, particularly in high-risk procedures such as maternity, cardiac, and stroke care.

Minogue won the Massachusetts GOP endorsement at the party's state convention in Worcester and is widely expected to win the Republican Primary on September 1, 2026. He will face incumbent Governor Maura Healey in the general election. Minogue promises to work to improve healthcare coverage and care statewide if elected.

Given his business background, Minogue is familiar with the economics of providing healthcare coverage for thousands of families and aims to address both geographic and fiscal challenges in the state's healthcare system.
