On Saturday, August 1st, 2026, a homemade explosive device exploded at the Balzi Rossi Italian restaurant located on a ground floor terrace at Kudrinksaya Square in central Moscow. The blast killed three people, including a woman who reportedly tried to bring the device into the restaurant, a security guard, and a patron, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

The explosion occurred around 8 p.m. local time in an area known for its seven Stalin-era skyscrapers. At least 21 additional people were injured in the incident.
