Italian startup Generative Bionics has developed Gene.01, a humanoid robot covered with sensor-filled skin designed to detect people approaching before any physical contact occurs. This technology allows Gene.01 to gather information about its surroundings and interactions, potentially reducing the risk of collisions between heavy robots and humans in industrial settings.

Generative Bionics CEO Daniele Pucci stated that the company designed Gene.01 as a foundational platform for various industrial machines. Pucci highlighted that within six months, the team progressed from concept to a fully functional, sensorized humanoid platform by integrating expertise in humanoid robotics, AI, biomechanics, and design. The company envisions robots that learn from the physical world and adapt to each customer's specific work environment.

However, Generative Bionics has not yet released detailed workplace safety data demonstrating how Gene.01 performs during full industrial shifts.
