Lorena Wiebes sprinted to victory on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, in the opening stage of the Tour de France Femmes held in Lausanne, Switzerland. The 27-year-old Dutch rider finished ahead of Mauritian Kim Le Court, who took second place, and European champion Demi Vollering, who came in third.

Wiebes, a two-time former European champion and sprint specialist, now leads the overall standings by four seconds over Le Court and six seconds over Vollering, benefiting from bonus seconds earned at the finish line. This win marks Wiebes's 10th Tour de France stage victory and the 132nd of her career.

Among the main contenders, Vollering gained an advantage by securing four bonus seconds, placing her ahead of previous race winners Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Kasia Niewiadoma, who finished eighth and ninth respectively, sharing the same time as the stage winner. Other potential contenders Paula Blasi and Anna van der Breggen finished 12th and 13th, conceding an additional eight seconds to Vollering.

Earlier in the stage, Czech rider Nikola Noskova, Spaniard Idoia Eraso, Dutch cyclist Maud Rijnbeek, and Frenchwoman Oceane Mahe established a breakaway with a maximum lead of six minutes but were caught six kilometers from the finish.

The second stage of the Tour de France Femmes will take place on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, covering a hilly 147.9 km route from Aigle to Geneva, remaining in Switzerland.
