Before the Indiana Fever secured their fifth straight win, WNBA star Caitlin Clark achieved her fourth career triple double, while Sophie Cunningham excelled with three-point shooting. Ahead of the game, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White stated she was not "educated enough from a scientific standpoint" to answer whether males should compete in women’s sports.

Scientific research shows that after puberty, males typically develop physical advantages including higher testosterone levels, greater muscle development, increased power output, and faster strength gains compared to females. Additionally, males have on average a 10%-12% higher hemoglobin concentration, which enhances oxygen delivery during exercise. These differences do not disappear based on gender identity.

Coach White acknowledged her limited knowledge on the subject, saying she wasn’t sufficiently informed on the science involved. The conversation around male participation in women’s sports continues to emphasize biology, physiology, and competitive fairness as key factors.

Fever fans have reacted strongly on social media, with some accusing Coach White of undermining Caitlin Clark following the team’s loss to Portland.
