Ukrainian drone strikes killed at least two people in Russian regions along the Volga River overnight on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, targeting several sites including a warehouse owned by Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, according to regional officials.

Russia’s Defence Ministry reported it had downed 635 Ukrainian drones during the night. The attacks included a strike on a Wildberries warehouse in the Samara region, approximately 800 kilometers (500 miles) from Ukraine’s most advanced military positions, regional Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said. Information on further casualties is still being clarified.

Since July 18th, Ukrainian forces have targeted about a dozen Wildberries sites in an effort to disrupt the company’s operations. Wildberries is considered a key player in Russia’s consumer economy and is often described as Russia’s equivalent to Amazon.

These strikes are part of a broader Ukrainian campaign to hit economic and energy targets deeper inside Russia, aiming to weaken Moscow’s capacity to sustain its ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has lasted over four years.
