Two men, one in his 60s and another in his 30s, were seriously injured and taken to hospital after a building partially collapsed at a construction site next to a petrol station in Ultimo, inner Sydney, on Monday, August 3rd, 2026.

Emergency services were called just before 11 a.m. and found that a wall and roof had collapsed onto nearby cars within the service station area. Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Acting Superintendent Peter Murray described the incident as "a significant roof collapse."

As a precaution, surrounding buildings were evacuated, including about 35 people from a building behind the collapse site. The petrol station was shut down.

Acting Superintendent Murray confirmed there were no reports of anyone missing, but crews continued to verify this. Safety measures included atmospheric monitoring and checks for electrical and gas hazards. FRNSW also deployed drones to access the dangerous site without risking firefighters.

NSW Police and emergency services remain at the scene managing the situation.
