Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, was spotted on Monday afternoon, August 4th, 2026, leaving the West Wing of the White House while wheeling a white box and a briefcase. The sighting came hours after President Donald Trump publicly criticized Pirro over a dropped criminal case, leading to speculation about her job security.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins noted that it is unusual for officials to carry large file boxes out of the building after meetings. Despite the speculation, CNN reported that Pirro was not fired during the visit, which was described as a possibly awkward meeting with the president. Trump was reportedly still considering whether to remove her from the position.

Earlier that day, speaking in the Oval Office, President Trump said Pirro “choked” and made a mistake regarding the case. He rejected the decision related to the dropped case and, according to Newsweek, was “blindsided” by it.

Pirro, a former Fox News host on “The Five,” was appointed interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia by Trump in 2025.
