Hong Kong police have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving following a viral video that captured his van swerving dangerously close to a woman.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, outside the car park of Temple Mall North in Wong Tai Sin. The video shows the white light van speeding and passing very close to a female cleaner who was about to cross the road. Although the vehicle did not hit her, the woman was forced to jump back to avoid danger.

Officers investigating the case tracked down the driver on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026. A police spokesman confirmed the man remains in custody. Upon questioning, the man admitted to driving the van at the time of the incident.

The van has been seized for further investigation, with Kowloon East’s traffic accident investigation team continuing inquiries. Under Hong Kong law, dangerous driving carries a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment and disqualification from driving.
