Police Scotland is investigating reports of several athletes who have not returned home after competing in the Commonwealth Games that ended in Glasgow on Sunday, August 3rd, 2026. The missing athletes are identified in media reports as boxers from Uganda and Pakistan.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated late on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, “Police Scotland has received reports of several athletes who are unaccounted for.” Additionally, the Pakistan Today website reported that one of Pakistan’s boxers failed to show up for a scheduled flight home on Tuesday.

Incidents of athletes going missing after the Commonwealth Games have been common in recent editions hosted in Australia or Britain since Glasgow 2014. For instance, after the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia, authorities were still searching for 50 athletes and officials a month after the competition ended, while another 190 had sought asylum.

The investigation highlights ongoing concerns about athletes disappearing during international sporting events.
