Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has solidified his position as the leading GOP Senate fundraiser this election cycle, entering the final 100 days before the midterms.

Paxton's campaign committee, Ken Paxton for Senate, raised more than $9 million in the second quarter of 2026. This marks the largest single-quarter total announced by a GOP Senate non-incumbent nationwide, surpassing the previous record of $9 million set by Senator Cornyn in the first quarter, according to a Texas Tribune report.

The majority of Paxton's fundraising came within one month following his May 26 primary runoff victory, indicating rapid consolidation of support as the general election approaches. His haul outpaced other prominent Republican Senate candidates, including Ohio Republican Jon Husted, who raised $7.7 million, and Senator Dan Sullivan, who raised $2 million during the same period.

Despite these strong fundraising numbers, an analysis of federal campaign finance data revealed that none of the nearly 100 donors who contributed at least $50,000 to Cornyn's campaign or affiliated PACs during the cycle had donated directly to Paxton or his aligned committees after the runoff, according to an Axios report. Major Cornyn supporters such as members of the Perot family, Houston beer distributor John Nau, and Dallas real estate developer Harlan Crow had not shifted their support as of the latest filings through June 30.

Polling data from the Barbara Jordan Public Policy Research and Survey Center at Texas Southern University shows a narrow lead for Democratic candidate James Talarico over Paxton, with Talarico at 47 percent and Paxton at 45 percent. Six percent of voters remain undecided, and two percent support other candidates, according to a report from The Hill.

As the Texas Senate race intensifies, Paxton's fundraising strength contrasts with the close polling numbers, setting the stage for a competitive general election.
