In Mongolia, political reforms that opened the door for outsiders have led to a new-look parliament, but the institution is now confronting old-style party politics. Saranchuluun Otgon, one of Mongolia's first two lawmakers with a disability, highlighted the distance between citizens and those in power, saying the "people in power seemed too far to reach."

Last year, Otgon toured Ulaanbaatar, the nation's capital, with its mayor to assess the city's accessibility. This experience underscored for her the significant changes in Mongolia's political landscape.

However, following these reforms, there is a new push to tighten political rules, suggesting ongoing tensions between reformist efforts and established political practices.
