Saranchuluun Otgon, one of Mongolia’s first two lawmakers with a disability, highlighted these shifts after touring the capital with its mayor last year to assess accessibility. The experience underscored for her how much the country’s politics have evolved.

However, challenges remain. Otgon remarked that the “people in power seemed too far to reach,” reflecting ongoing difficulties in bridging the gap between citizens and political leaders. Meanwhile, a new push is underway to tighten rules governing political participation, signaling efforts to address lingering issues within the parliamentary system.
