The Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Executive Committee has unanimously confirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, standing in contrast to counterparts in Europe, North America, and Asia. This endorsement comes as Infantino seeks re-election in March 2027.

On August 7, 2026, the same day UEFA announced its commitment to boycotting future World Cups at all levels while Infantino remains in office, CAF’s top decision-making body expressed gratitude for Infantino's support of African football over the years.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe welcomed and endorsed the "Joint Update" issued by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom. However, Motsepe emphasized the importance of good governance and transparency in global football.

Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the World Cup sell-off, which emerged shortly after Motsepe praised Infantino, CAF's stance highlights a regional divergence in support for FIFA's leadership.
