The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unanimously confirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, despite opposition from football bodies in Europe, North America, and Asia. On Thursday, the CAF Executive Committee expressed gratitude for Infantino's support of African football over the years and endorsed the recent "Joint Update" issued by Infantino and FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe emphasized the importance of good governance and transparency in global football while reaffirming Africa's backing of Infantino. This development comes on the same day UEFA announced its commitment to boycotting future World Cups at all levels as long as Infantino remains in office.

Infantino is currently seeking re-election in March 2027. Motsepe had also praised Infantino in the days preceding the emergence of controversy surrounding the World Cup sell-off.
