The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unanimously reaffirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, highlighting a clear regional divide in global football governance. This endorsement comes as UEFA announced its commitment to boycotting future World Cups at all levels while Infantino remains in office.

CAF’s Executive Committee expressed gratitude for Infantino’s support of African football over the years and welcomed the recent "Joint Update" issued by Infantino and FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom. CAF President Patrice Motsepe emphasized the importance of good governance and transparency in global football during the announcement.

The decision by CAF’s top decision-making body to back Infantino occurs as the FIFA president seeks re-election in March 2027. This support contrasts with the stance of football associations in Europe, North America, and Asia, which have shown opposition to Infantino’s leadership.

Motsepe had praised Infantino days before a controversy involving the World Cup sell-off emerged, underscoring the ongoing complexities within FIFA’s global relations.
