A 49-year-old woman was arrested in Singapore on Thursday, August 6th, 2026, for her alleged involvement in promoting an investment scheme connected to the Fun Coffee platform. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) stated in a media release on Saturday, August 8th, that the platform is purportedly based in Vietnam.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman actively promoted the scheme and recruited others to participate. Users were required to download the Fun Coffee application and transfer Tether (USDT), a cryptocurrency pegged to the US dollar, into digital wallets provided through the app. Investment plans within the app promised unrealistically high returns and offered additional commissions for recruiting new members, according to SPF.
Participants in Singapore reportedly became unable to withdraw their funds through the Fun Coffee application. Earlier in the week, Hong Kong and Macau police arrested eight individuals linked to Fun Coffee after receiving over 220 complaints. The South China Morning Post reported that victims were misled out of nearly HK$100 million (US$12.7 million). The Fun Coffee app reportedly went offline on July 20th, 2026, triggering the complaints.
SPF has advised the public not to make any further payments or transfers to the scheme, even if approached by individuals claiming to represent Fun Coffee or through requests made via the app.
Fun Coffee describes itself as a lifestyle brand combining coffee, wellness, and digital innovation into a community experience, aiming to connect users' activities and interactions into a unified system that rewards participation and fosters community growth.
