A 49-year-old woman was arrested in Singapore on Thursday, August 6th, 2026, for her alleged role in promoting an investment scheme linked to the Fun Coffee platform, which authorities say resembles a pyramid-selling scheme.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) stated in a media release on Saturday, August 8th, that preliminary investigations revealed the woman actively promoted the scheme and recruited others to join. Participants were required to download the "Fun Coffee" app and transfer Tether (USDT), a cryptocurrency pegged to the US dollar, into digital wallet addresses provided through the app.
"Users can subscribe to any of the investment plans listed within the application. The plans promise unrealistically high returns and offer additional commissions for recruiting others to join the scheme," said the SPF.
Participants in Singapore reportedly became unable to withdraw their funds through the app. The Fun Coffee platform is purportedly based in Vietnam.
Earlier in the week, Hong Kong and Macau police arrested eight people linked to Fun Coffee after receiving over 220 complaints about the platform. The South China Morning Post reported that victims had been misled out of close to HK$100 million (US$12.7 million). The Fun Coffee app reportedly went offline suddenly on July 20th, 2026, prompting these complaints.
The SPF advised the public not to make any further payments or transfers to the scheme, even if approached by individuals claiming to represent Fun Coffee or through requests made via the application.
Fun Coffee describes itself as "a lifestyle brand combining coffee, wellness and digital innovation into a community experience," aiming to "connect users' activities and interactions into a unified system that rewards participation and fosters community growth" and to "work together to support the global growth of the Fun Coffee network."
